Why (and when) do you need a Notary Public?

BC Notaries are governed by the Notaries Act of BC and the through oversight of their professional society. The authority to provide legal services as a Notary is sanctioned and safeguarded by law.  BC Notaries are unique in North America, providing a broad scope of non-contentious legal services to the public.  BC Notaries are appointed for life by Royal Decree.  They are trustees and qualified professionals who have earned the public’s confidence through their performance in various specified areas of law.

The Society receives over 1600 application inquiries from the public in a year.  An average of 25 students are enrolled in and graduate from a customized Masters Level education program from Simon Fraser University.

Notaries take pride in delivering practical, accessible legal services in our communities.  Because Notaries concentrate on three areas of law: real estate, estate planning and notarizations, we are proficient in prepararion of these documents. We do not practice in contentious areas of law or family law.  Our dedicated practice of law allows us to focus on meeting our client’s specific needs and priorities.
